Sisira passes away

Veteran vocalist and musician Sisira Senaratne passed away a short while ago, family sources said.

Sisira who was 80 at the time of his demise, made his debut in the sixties and has sung a large number of hit songs including Olu Nelum Neriya Rangala, Mage Puthuta Mal, Gaya Geethayan Game Wel Eliye, Sarungale, Nuhuru Nupurudu and others.

The Nalanda College old boy also directed music for a few popular movies. He was married to popular singer Indrani Wijebandara.

Remains will lie at the Jayaratne Funeral Parlour from tomorrow morning.

Funeral will take place at the Borella General Cemetery on Saturday (February 7) evening.

    Sisira was a great singer of all times. He entertained both young and the old. A fine gentleman who was always well dressed and was an example to others.
