Political parties are banned from holding meetings, rallies and any other programmes in the vicinity of centres holding GCE O/L Examinations Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

The examinations are held from December 9 to 18 in 4,200 examination centers Island wide.

SSP Rohana said that political rallies and other programmes would be banned during the examination.

Permission for programmes which needed loudspeakers would not be granted as well, he said.

“The distribution of leaflets of any kind and the use of loudspeakers in any manner in the areas that examinations are held is prohibited,” he said.

Coordinating centres and paper collection centres would be heavily guarded by the Police, he said.

“There will be mobile services in the area as well and about to 10,000 officers will be deployed to ensure the law is upheld,” he said.
