Good to hear that long awaited expressway to Kandy has finally commenced. Besides these mega projects, steps must be taken to ease the traffic congestion in the Kandy city too. Politicians have promised at the election time to open up the stretch of road in front of Dalada Maligawa which is yet to happen. This would be a much cheaper and a viable alternative than underground tunnels proposed by some of the politicians.

There is nothing to Kandy as yet. If you look at the map you will see section three ends in Galagedara. Kandy doesn't seem to be a priority for any government. What's the hurry for Dambulla, Hambanthota and Kurunegala. Kandy is on the forgotten list. Nothing is being done about anywhere in the Kandy district to ease congestion. It is a Nightmare. The stretch in front of Maligawa will never be opened even to light traffic thanks to all the detractors.
