Assault on two youth goes viral on social media

A video showing a group of people assaulting a young girl and a boy who had come to Kurunegala to attend the SLFP anniversary celebrations on Sunday has gone viral on social media websites.

According to reports, they were among a group of supporters of an SLFP organizer of the Gampaha District and had got into a brawl with another group of people who had come to attend the event.

The incident later led to a brawl between the girl’s companions and those who attacked her.

However, the police managed to rescue the boy and the girl and settle the matter.

The reason for the assault was unknown.

When asked about the incident, Kurunegala HQI said no complaint had been made to the police on any such incident. (Pushpakumara Jayaratne)

Typical SL Police. Nobody can misbehave on public roads and the assault is happening in front of the Police. The Police cannot hide behind the underskirt that "nobody has made a complaint" but arrest all parties involved and hold an investigation. They should be charged for misbehavior and violence in a public location. Shameless Sri Lanka Police who are totally incompetent.

Our police is a shame and a disgrace to any good society. No one can assault or misbehave in public. Such persons should be arrested on sight and produced. So Pujitha's Police wait till get rape and then victim to complain to Police to act? So Sri Lanka Police wants crime to happen then victim to complain to police? Why police is there for what? To supply buns to politicians?
