The Colombo High Court today permitted Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera to travel abroad.
Yesterday the Thera sought to travel to UK from September 3 to 7, to attend a religious event.
High Court Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne permitting the suspect to travel abroad ordered him to return his passport on September 13.
The Thera was indicted by the Attorney General on two counts under the Flora and Fauna Act and the Public Properties Act for the alleged possession of a baby elephant without a license at Alan Mathiniyarama Temple. (Shehan Chamika Silva and T. Farook Thajudeen)

Sri Lanka is a good place for criminals. Traveling abroad for someone on bail is not permitted in other countries.

Equality of Law : a Monk keeping an elephant in the temple is a crime under the Flora-Fauna act. While another who destroyed an entire jungle became a minister.

Being a clergy and the act of being a suspect itself is an insult for this person to continue wearing the robe. His statement that this was a stray elephant that walked into the temple simply shows his honesty as a Buddhist priest.
