Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader and Chief opposition whip Anura Kumara Dissanayke told Parliament yesterday that JVP members representing the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) are ready to resign from it if anyone thinks the stand taken by his party on certain issues affect the investigations carried out by the said committee.

Mr Dissanayake was responding to a statement made by Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella that COPE members should not divulge information on its investigations . “Is it correct to talk about investigations on COPE in Parliament and to divulge information by holding media conferences" he questioned.

Mr Dissanayake said members of JVP were ready to resign if any one thought they could influence investigations. "We can resign at any time if anyone says JVP members are influencing investigations" he said. (Yohan Perera)

Cut and run as usual. All good things are their intervention. When salary increased by 10,000 they did it. Then VAT increase to pay it dead oppose it. Never take responsibly.

i expected that, when PM said that he is awaiting for ruling from COPE on Arjuna Mahendran. JVP is in "Gire" now. if COPE clear him, anura has nothing to say. also no hard evidence to provce the case. correct if i am wrong. best thing is to say "mata Hembirssawa, suwanda dannenne ne" and resign from COPE. as per a story i heared long time a ago, when lion ask fox about his mouth smell........

Yanne koheda Malle Pol! Manussayo, do not talk about the progress of investigations assigned to the committee until the investigations are over. It is as simple as that!
