The Court of Appeal today fixed to be mentioned on July 25 the Writ petition filed by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) seeking an order from the Court to arrest and institute legal proceedings against Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam alias Kumaran Pathmanathan.
The matter was taken up before Justices Vijith K. Malalgoda and P. Padman Surasena. The Court has directed the Petitioner to decide as to whether he has to continue the proceedings or terminate it.
The Attorney General on February 3 furnished to the Court the progress report on the investigation on the alleged involvement of Kumaran Pathmanathan (KP) in the LTTE activities.
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath had filed the Writ petition seeking an order from the Court to arrest and institute legal proceedings against Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingham alias Kumaran Pathmanathan.
Upul Kumarapperuma with Sunil Watagala, Kaushalya Perera, Thanuka Nandasiri, Jayantha Dehiattage and Heshani Jayasuriya appeared for the petitioner. (S.S. Selvanayagam)
