President: Govt. weak in communicating with the people

A major shortcoming of the present Government was that it did not have the ability to articulate to the people its good deeds, President Maithripala Sirisena said today.

“A major short coming of this government is that it does not have the ability to inform and educate people on the good things it has done and that particular shortcoming gives an advantage to the opponents and they often talk of what this Government had failed to do,” the President said at ceremony held to mark the 23rd death anniversary of late President Ranasinghe Premadasa this morning.

“The Government should also communicate to the people about all the good work done by it like the way the late President Premadasa did,” he added. (Yohan Perera)

An obviuos major failing we noticed over a year ago when it could not explain the true facts and allowed detractors to spread adverse propaganda. A good Press Office under the PM should deal daily with any criticisms.

Very true, Mr. President. We agree that you cannot comment on every website article but there should be a strong media briefing daily to ensure the truth is shared with the people. Specially about Sri Lankan Airlines. We see lot of personnel attacks taking place under freedom of press banner.

Very true Mr President the Government failed to educate the people because firstly they dont know what they are doing.PM and Ministers are only talking with no output.The politicians must tighten the belt first.Cancel vehicle permits to MPs public servants and other politicians.Give relief to poor.Why hire private building for Agri ministry without getting space from Sethsiripaya or such place.Is not it waste of public funds.
