Snr. UNP ministers to meet MS over Dilan's slur at PM

Several senior UNP ministers are to meet President Maithripala Sirisena regarding the Highways State Minister Dilan Perera’s recent speech comparing Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to a Maradana Rowdy.

They would ask President Maithripala Sirisena to take appropriate action for the minister’s reckless remarks being a minister of the same government.

Minister Perera’s remarks that of comparing the Premier to a rowdy during an SLFP media meeting was highlighted in all the media in the country said the senior ministers.

Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardena said that they were much annoyed over minister Dilan Perera’s slur.

He also said the UNP Ministers would consider these remarks made by one who became a State Minister after having lost his electorate and the district at the election to Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is a leader of a major party and had held premiership four times.

He also said the UNP ministers had never criticized President Sirisena and will meet the President next week. (Anjula Mahika Weerarathna)
