Health Minister should ask himself why he was afraid of quitting the Mahinda Rajapaksa government until President Maithripala Sirisena did so to join the coalition against the then government, the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said today.

Responding to a question asked by a journalist at a media briefing, GMOA spokesman Dr. Navin de Soysa said they were never scared of former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa or any politician in the country and never sucked up to them.

He said that during a discussion, President Sirisena had admitted that the GMOA was not an association which had any political agendas even though some politicians had criticized the GMOA . (Piyumi Fonseka)

These GMOAs should work for the benefit of the poor patients and not for their personal benefits alone. They demand and get all what they want. They earn from private practice too, get vehicle permits,but the poor patients are worse affected by these strikes. These doctors from the time they enter the state university until they retire they want everything free demanding for more and more. There is no end to their unreasonable strikes and demands. When the government is people friendly they try to take advantage.

the GMOA was always perceived to be a respectable group. but since of late they have absolutely gone down in standards which is acceptable with more n more doctors with lesser class r joining d profession I personally dont see any difference between d present President of the GMOA n Gemunu Wijeratne so absurd via DM iOS App
