Mr Minister First and foremost English should be made compulsory like Sinhala and Tamil are being compulsory at present in every national schools with English grammar as a subject at least at Advanced level examination by mitigating the heavy tedious syllabus of other subjects. 98 % of the Sinhala Tamil medium students ignore English learning and as a result ,majority of the lecturers are very poor or with zero knowledge of English. This should have been done long ago .Had it been done half of the job problems and minority issues could not have emerged
