Malaysia’s Malindo Air to commence daily flights from Colombo this week

Malaysia’s low cost carrier, Malindo Air will commence daily flights from Colombo to Kuala Lumpur on December 18, 2015, a statement by the airline said.
Accordingly, flight OD186 will depart Badaranaike International Airport at 11.55 p.m. to arrive in Kula Lumpur at 6.15 a.m. next day.The daily services to Sri Lanka mark the airline’s ninth country respectively in its expanding international network.
The airline said promotional fares are in place for the new route and they include other perks such as free baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, meals and light refreshments.
The narrow-body Boeing 737-800ER aircraft with a seat capacity of 162, with 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats, will be deployed on the route. The flight time between Kuala Lumpur and Colombo will take 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Malindo, which is part-owned by Indonesia’s Lion Air is a full-service carrier with main hubs at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) and the convenient KL downtown city airport Subang Skypark in Selangor, Malaysia.
The airline took to the skies in March 2013 with domestic flights and has since grown to operate routes to all major airports in Malaysia and across regional destinations in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Singapore with plans to operate to southern China and Australia by end-year 2015.
The fleet itself has grown leaps and bounds to 11 ATR72-600 and 16 Boeing 737NG as of 16 September 2015.
Today, the airline operates over 800 flights weekly across a continuously growing network of about 40 routes in the region. More recently, the airline won the Airline of the Year (Passenger) at the KLIA Awards 2014.
