Under-15 Provincial Youth League Cricket Matara begin campaign with big win

The Under 15 Provincial Youth League limited overs cricket tournament which got underway had the Matara team begin their campaign with a big 183 runs win over Monaragala in the match played at Monaragala. 

Matara taking first lease of the wicket helped by half tons from Abdul Rasheed, Sethuja Mandingo, Hirun Manyuga and Mohamed Shihab made a formidable scorer of 254 for 2 and Monaragala in their run chase was bundled out for 71 runs with Kaveesha Gayashan and Maheesha Indimina who together shared eight wickets doing the damage:

A quick-fire 100 in 82 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries and two sixes by Methuka Gunaratme paved the way for Colombo South Zone 2 to record a comfortable 118 runs win over Colombo South Zone 3 in the match played at Pannipitiya.

In the other matches that were played Badulla, Kandy Zone 2 and Batticaloa recorded wins against Galle Zone 1, Kegalle and Trincomalee.

The tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association is being contested by 27 provincial teams.
