Super League volleyball finals postponed as one team goes overseas

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) has decided to postpone the Munchee National Super League Volleyball men’s and women’s finals which were scheduled to be held on February 3.

It marks the second time the finals have been postponed. Originally the finals were scheduled to be played in the first week of December 2025 but postponed due to adverse weather conditions in the country 

According to SLVB senior vice president Mahinda Bandara, the second postponement was done to ensure fair participation as Hydramani Sports Club the women’s team that qualified for the final is scheduled to embark on an overseas tour during the first week of February. In order to provide the team with the opportunity to compete in the final, SLVB opted to postpone both finals once again.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Army qualified for the men’s final while Hydramani Sports Club and Air Force qualified for the women’s final.

The postponement means the finals have been rescheduled to be played on February 27 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

First inaugurated in 2006, the Munchee Super League Volleyball Tournament was suspended for several years due to various reasons before being successfully revived this year. 

According to SLVB the champions will be entitled to Rs.150,000, the runners-up Rs. 100,000 and third place winner Rs. 50,000.
