Supporters of the Sri Lanka cricket team vented their anger at the players after England successfully defended a 128 total in the third and final T20 match at the Pallekele International Stadium on Tuesday to wrap up the series 3-0.

Some of the supporters shouted slogans like “shame, shame” while others remarked they took leave from their workplaces to support the team.

It was not the first time that the Sri Lanka team had faced the wrath of the public over the past four years as investigative Reports compiled and submitted by retired Judges called for a complete overhaul of the governance of the sport amid allegations of financial mismanagement, power abuse and nepotism.

But some analysts say the protests are likely to die down once the T20 World Cup begins as Sri Lankans are a nation of short memories until the next tragedy takes place.

It also marked the fifth time in a row that Sri Lanka lost a series over the past seven months.
