Sri Lanka finish third at Central Asia volleyball

The Sri Lanka men’s volleyball team clinched third place at the Central Asia (CAV) Nations Cup Men’s Volleyball Tournament 2025 after a convincing victory over host Bangladesh yesterday.

Organized by the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), the tournament was held in Dhaka under a round-robin format, featuring the participation of six nations.

In the decisive match for third place, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh 3-0, with set scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20, securing a well-earned podium finish.

For Sri Lanka, Mohammed Thahir was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

Throughout the tournament, Sri Lanka played six matches, emerging victorious in four by defeating Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal and Bangladesh, while losses were recorded against Turkmenistan and earlier against Bangladesh.
