Shan Academy badminton players impress in India

Players from Shan Badminton Academy of Sri Lanka, recently participated in the inaugural Invitational International Badminton Tournament 2026 organised by Green Contributor (Canada) and Giant Sport Academy (India) held in Chennai, India from February 21–23.

The team made a remarkable impression with their skill, sportsmanship and dedication.

Shan Sudarshan is a founder of the Shan Badminton Academy and a former national badminton player from Sri Lanka who contributed significantly to the sport in the country. 

After his playing career he has been involved in badminton coaching, nurturing new talents and promotes skill development and sportsmanship among players of all levels.                                                                 

Among the standout performers, Yenuli Fernando, T. Kabilsshan and Nisanda Sandika received the Most Promising Player 2026 Award recognising their talent and performance throughout the tournament while R. Harikisha and DPP Dampahala were honored with a Special Fair Play Award for their outstanding sportsmanship and positive attitude on the court. In addition, R. Dhakshana was honoured with an Appreciation award.

The tournament provided an invaluable opportunity for Shan Academy players to improve their badminton techniques, learn new tactics and interact with players from India.
