Lanka Masters Cricket Association (IMC) officially announced a 16-member squad for the IMC Over-40s (T20) World Cup, to be held in Karachi, Pakistan from November 21 to December 1.
The landmark tournament- the first ever T20 World Cup in the over 40s category will bring together twelve cricketing nations Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, UAE, Australia, USA, Sri-Lanka, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia and the Rest of the World to showcase veteran talent and enduring passion for the game.
Leading Sri Lanka’s campaign is the experienced Marlon Fernando with Suneth Sampath serving as his deputy.
The selected squad according to officials reflects a balanced blend of seasoned performers and allrounders. Ruwan Premathilaka, Hansa Wijayasundera, Rajiv Nirmalasingham, Dasis Isanthamal, Hiran Kularathna, Chaminda Pathiratne, Suneth Withanage, Anjana Mahawatte, Udaya Kumara, Lanka Rodrigo, Manjula Guruge, Ujitha Sepala, Mohan Wickramasinghe and Ishara Indula.
Officials emphasized that this line-up represents not only exceptional skill and fitness, but also leadership and the ability to perform under high-pressure conditions on the global stage. (BM)
