Jaffna girls win football title at Youth Games

The Jaffna district women’s football team became champions at the 35th National Youth Games by defeating the Kurunegala district team in the final at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla.

The Kalutara district team secured third place.

In the men’s football competition the Batticaloa district team and the Urban Youth district team qualified for the final scheduled to be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama in December.

In the tug of war events at Maharagama, Colombo and Gampaha district teams won the men’s and women’s championships respectively.

In the women’s tug of war event the Gampaha district team defeated the Galle district team to claim the championship with the Vavuniya district team finishing in third place.
