The KENIHA ASD Club and Sports Academy, under the leadership of its founder Ravindra Kumarage and team, successfully organised the KENIHA Hoops and Goals 2025, an international netball and basketball tournament, held last month at the Centro Asteria Stadium in Milan, Italy.
The Chief Guest for the event was Dilini Jayawardhana, Consul at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Italy.
The KENIHA ASD Club and Sports Academy is currently the only Sri Lankan sports organisation officially registered with the Italian government and promotes nine sports disciplines, football, basketball, volleyball, netball, shooting, badminton, cricket and archery.
The tournament was specially designed for the Sri Lankan community in Italy and across Europe, bringing together talented athletes and fostering friendship and unity through sports.
In the netball final, the Feathers netball team faced the KENIHA netball team with the former emerging as the champions of the tournament.
In the basketball division, Team Kihmera and Team N Milano advanced to the final where the former clinched the championship title after an exciting and closely contested match.
The event marked a significant milestone in promoting Sri Lankan sporting excellence on an international platform and in strengthening community bonds across Europe through the spirit of sportsmanship.
The champion netball Feathers team comprised Vishaka Sadamali Fernando, Dilini Sharmila Fernando, Irasha Sadanika, Nethmi Umaya Dullewa, Vajira Lakmini Fernando, Sumudu Nilusha Perera, Mallika Siranthani Fernando, Malkanthi Fernando, Marina Cristin Perera and Nishani Dondeenu.
