Bangladesh players will not be allowed to train for the first seven days
By BIPIN DANI
The Bangladesh players will not be allowed to train or move out of their hotel rooms for the first seven days once they arrive in Sri Lanka for their three-Test series which begins next month.
The players could train for seven days thereafter but will not be able to meet any Sri Lankan players and no match will be played against the host team for 21 days.
These are few of the points in the tentative document on health ministry guidelines shared by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Meanwhile, the BCB is unlikely to send its High-Performance Team as planned earlier, along with the National Team to Sri Lanka. The proposal to send only the National players has come from SLC.
“They have requested us to send only the National Team so it can be ‘better managed’, one of the top BCB officials confirmed yesterday.
“Therefore, we are trying to restrict our team with support staff to 40 members.”
In addition, SLC has also proposed that all touring members should come from Bangladesh rather than from different destinations.
Batting Coach, Craig McMillan and Bowling Coach Daniel Vettori are scheduled to join the Bangladesh Team directly from New Zealand.
SLC officials are set to meet the health ministry authorities on Thursday to finalise further details and also discuss the relaxations the BCB has requested for.
