Gayan stamps his class at Denza-sponsored RCGC Monthly Medal

The February Monthly Medal 2026 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), an enduring legacy as Sri Lanka’s premier golfing venue, saw Gayan Galapitage showing fine form on the greens to win the Overall Nett last weekend. More than 300 golfers teed off at the two-day event, sponsored by Denza. Gayan also secured the C division title.
In Division A (handicap 0 to 9), precision and experience took centre stage. Riahn Pieris claimed the Nett title, while Husni Uwise ended as the runner-up. Sachin De Silva captured the Gross honours on a better back 9, showing controlled shot-making on a demanding layout. 
Division B (handicap 10 to 18) saw a closely fought contest, with F. Dossa edging the nett category on a countback, while P.B. Wickrama secured the Gross prize plus runner-up in the nett segment as well.
Division C (handicap 19 to 28) saw Gayan winning the nett and gross while C.P. Rayen ended as runner-up on a better back 9. 
Senior’s divisions delivered equally compelling performances, with Suresh Amarasekera winning, with Sunil Jayakody ending as runner-up, while evergreen Kumar Boralessa secured the gross.
In the Masters, Lal Dias accounted for nett, while Anura Danthanarayana ended as runner-up, with gross taken home by Bandula Weerasinghe.
Youthful promise shone through in the Junior Division, where Lithum Silva impressed in the Nett category and Thejas Rathis Kanth secured Gross honours, highlighting the club’s strong development pathway. Ayaan Gunasekera was runner-up in the Juniors nett event.
The Ladies Silver division produced notable performances, with Niloo Jayathilake winning the nett and Anouk Chitty winning gross. Tiru Jesudasan was the nett runner-up.
In the Ladies Bronze, Jennifer Northcott won both events, pushing Lim Sung as the runner-up in the nett segment. The Ladies Senior segment was won by N. Amrasuriya and Kalyani Ranasinghe ended as runner-up, with the latter winning the Senior segment gross.
Longest Drive was won by Kushal Johnpillai, which was on the 8th hole. Nearest to the PIN in the 9th hole was won by Chulaka Amarasinghe.
The event was made possible through the support of Denza, whose sponsorship reinforced a shared commitment with RCGC to elevating the standard of competitive golf in the country.
