Ganuka only hope for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Ganuka Fernando made it to the quarter finals of the ITF Junior Circuit J30 Week 2 tennis tournament with a hard fought two sets to one win over Xiande He of China in the second round match played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

Ganuka was the only Sri Lanka to qualify from three Sri Lankan players with Annaya Norbert in the girls segment and Saha Kapilasena in the boys’ category defeated at the hands of Akari Oda of Japan and Jialing Guo of China.

Girls – Akari Oda (Japan) beat Annaya Norbert (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (7/6, 6/0)
Boys - Ganuka Fernando (Sri Lanka) beat Xiande He (China) 2-1 (3/6, 6/2, 6/2), Jialing Guo (China) beat Saha Kapilasena (Sri Lanka) 2-1 (7/5, 2/6, 6/2)
