Sri Lanka’s 38-year old all-rounder Dilruwan Perera has apologized for his abrupt reply to the Colts’ Cricket Club, after his suspension following an argument with the club’s General Manager on the provision of cricket pitches for practice.

After a disciplinary letter was issued to him, the cricketer had abruptly replied saying:  “Sorry I don’t have any explanation. Ask the GM to find players for next season. I don’t need that membership anymore.”

Dilruwan Perera has now expressed his desire to continue playing for the club.

“As I hope to continue playing as on behalf of the Colts’ Club, I would be grateful to you if you could pay attention to this incident in a flexible and impartial manner.  I further believe it would not affect negatively on any party,” he had said in the letter after narrating the incident.

“This is an internal matter which we need to handle,” club president, Nishantha Ranatunga said.

On Saturday, Perera is likely to appear before the disciplinary committee which will be heard by the Secretary Brig. Shiran Abeysekera, Vice President Eastman Narangoda and the club captain Dinesh Wickramanayake.
