Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), in collaboration with the event rights holder of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the IPG Group, has officially announced the termination of the franchise partnerships of the Colombo Strikers and Jaffna Kings.
According to a statement issued today, the terminations were made due to the respective franchises’ failure to fulfill contractual obligations outlined in their agreements with the IPG Group, which were established at the commencement of their participation in the league.
As a result, the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League will include teams representing Colombo and Jaffna under new ownership structures.
The IPG Group, which holds exclusive rights to the LPL franchise teams, is now authorized to transfer or assign ownership of the two franchises to new investors.
Both SLC and the IPG Group reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the integrity and high standards of the tournament, expressing optimism for a competitive and successful upcoming season with renewed team participation.
