99th Athletic Nationals to be held in four stages from May 22

 Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) has decided to conduct the 99th National Athletic Championships in four stages during weekends starting from May 22 and 23 at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.

 All the Track and Field events are scheduled to be held other than road running events.

Only selected athletes based on results of the last two competitions will be given the  opportunity due to current pandemic situation in the country.  

 “This is the best opportunity for athletes who are on the brink of selection to qualify for forthcoming Olympics in Tokyo,” said G.L.S. Perera, a Vice President of SLA.

 The COVID-19 health guidelines will be followed strictly with only athletes and coaches being allowed to attend the event as per the schedule. No spectators will be allowed.
