The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) has announced that applications for the 2025 Munchee Super League National Volleyball Championship (Men’s and Women’s) will close today (27).
According to the SLVB Competition Committee, the tournament is expected to feature 10 men’s teams and eight women’s teams that performed notably at the national level last year.
For the men’s championship, the expected participants include: Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police, Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, National Youth Services Council, Sri Lanka Universities, Mercantile Champion Meliban, and the Mercantile Runner-up Team.
The women’s tournament will likely see participation from Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka Universities, and the National Youth Services Council.
The preliminary round matches will be held from December 2-5 at the Vathupitiwala Sports Complex in Gampaha, while the finals are scheduled for January 7, 2026, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, SLVB President Senior DIG Sanjeewa Medawatta and Senior Vice President Mahinda Bandara confirmed that preparations are underway for the successful conduct of the event.
The Munchee Super League Volleyball Tournament, inaugurated in 2006, had been temporarily halted for several years due to various reasons. The sponsor, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (Munchee), has allocated cash prizes of LKR 150,000 each for the men’s and women’s champions, LKR 100,000 each for the runners-up, and LKR 50,000 each for the third-place teams.
