10 teams for Mercantile hockey knock-outs

The 74th Mercantile Hockey Knockout Tournament, organized by the Mercantile Hockey Association of Sri Lanka, will commence on Saturday at the Astro Turf in Colombo bringing together leading corporate hockey teams in Sri Lanka for another exciting season of competition.The tournament will continue on Sunday with the finals scheduled to be played on June 20.

This year’s tournament will feature 10 teams competing across three divisions.

As the tournament gets underway, Hatton National Bank will be looking to defend its A Division title and continue its winning legacy. Browns Group, the reigning B Division champions, will aim to retain their crown and bounce back strongly following a challenging campaign in the 2026 Mercantile Hockey League Tournament. Meanwhile, with last year’s C Division champions Nations Trust Bank earning a promotion to the B Division, the C Division competition is set to crown a new champion, with David Peiris Motor Company and John Keells Holdings battling for top honours.

The opening day’s fixtures will have Browns Group take on Nations Trust Bank in a B Division encounter at 5.00 PM followed by the A Division clash between Commercial Bank and Hayleys at 6.30 PM.

A Division: Commercial Bank, Hatton National Bank, Hayleys, Sampath Bank, Seylan Bank 

B Division: Browns Group, CIAP, Nations Trust Bank

C Division: David Peiris Motor Company, John Keells Holdings (BM)
