It’s politics from beginning to end!

A specially appointed panel was inquiring into a complaint that the uniformed ones in a division in the deep South had implicated a local politico in a serious case, when they found that the divisional head was an impediment to their investigations. 

So, they recommended that the meddling divisional head be immediately transferred out.

Those above acting this recommendation issued an order transferring out the divisional head to a distant new station. 

Meanwhile, a political bigwig, a buddy of the divisional head finding that this transfer was prejudicial to his own interests had prevailed on a very high authority to cancel the transfer and the divisional head happily continues to function in the old post as before, they say.
