One kilo of heroin valued Rs.10.5Mn seized, suspect arrested

A stock of one kilo of heroin was seized in transit and a  suspect was arrested on Thursday evening by Matugama Police during a raid.    

A police team patrolling Matugama town had checked a  suspicious individual riding on a motorcycle and questioned him to find  the stock of heroin in his possession.   

The 42-year-old suspect was a resident of Helamba in Matugama, a father of two years, and a trishaw mechanic by profession.   

The suspect stated that the street value of the stock of  heroin was more than Rs. 10.5 million. He was to be produced before the  Matugama Magistrate yesterday.   A police team under OIC of Anti-Vice Squad Sub Inspector  D. C. A. Nadunge is conducting further investigations on the instructions of HQI  Parakrama Udawatta and ASP Chandra Pathmalal.
