Kandy Municipal Health Department stressed that Kandy  city is not facing any threat of diseases or health hazards in the  aftermath of the large crowds that flocked to the city to pay homage to  the Sacred Tooth Relic.

He refuted the statements of unscrupulous individuals attempting to mislead the public.

The Chief Municipal Medical Officer of Health Dr. Pasan  Perakum Jayasinghe said that the entire city has now been cleared of all  garbage disposed by the pilgrims.

Dr. Jayasinghe said the Kandy city was not facing any issue  affecting the drinking water supply. He said that the water supply to the  city depends on Dunumadalawa protected reservoir, which is immune to any  kind of pollution and that the water supplied from the Mahaweli River  is well purified at the Getambe Water Treatment Plant.

He requested the public not to be misled by irresponsible  statements intended to mislead the public and not to have any misgivings  about health and sanitation in  Kandy city.
