A senior air force official arrested for sexual abuse of a woman

A senior air force official was arrested by Moratuwa police on suspicion of sexually abusing a young woman in a intercity bus. The young woman travelling from Colombo to Matugama had faced the indecent act of the fellow passenger that caused her serious inconvenience. However, another woman who noticed the incident had alerted other passengers. The conductor and the driver had caught the perpetrator and and handed him over to the police with the help of the passengers. Police said the 47 year old suspect is a Wing Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and a resident of Ratmalana. Under interrogation he stated that the young woman had smiled with him when he boarded the bus and that he tapped on her to get her phone number. He refused the allegation that he sexually abused her and that it was a misunderstanding . He was to be produced before Moratuwa magistrate yesterday, WIP Irangani and WPS 2572 conducted investigations on the instructions of OIC Moratuwa police CI Nihal Francis and SSP Prasanna Brahmana
