The Buddhist devotees pay homage on Binara Full Moon Poya day at the Kelaniya Temple in Kelaniya on September 20, 2021. The establishment of the Bhikkhuni Sasanaya (Bhikkhuni Sangha) or Order of the Female Buddhist Monastic took place on a Binara Poya when the stepmother of Buddha, Mahapajapathi Gothami was first ordained.
