The Rukmini Tissanayagam Trust, in collaboration with the Chamber Music Society of Colombo (CMSC), is proud to announce a special invitee concert celebrating the birth anniversary of the late Rukmini Ramanathan Tissanayagam on the 13th of December at the Jubilee Ballroom, Galle Face Hotel. Remembered as the epitome of elegance, Rukmini’s lasting impact was defined by her quiet generosity and the discreet philanthropy that transformed communities. Her courage and unwavering kindness left behind a legacy of love and light. To ensure her deep support for art and culture continues in perpetuity, her husband, Mohan Tissanayagam, established the Rukmini Tissanayagam Trust.

This year’s memorial concert features two distinguished artists from the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Sri Lankan-born German tenor Thaisen Rusch, an alumnus of the Hanns Eisler School of Music and a fellow of the German National Merit Foundation. Currently a First Tenor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Rusch’s recent highlights include solo roles in The Magic Flute, the release of his Winterreise recording, and his appointment as Artist in Residence with the Sinfonisches Kammerorchester Berlin. Joining him on piano is Jeremy Bines, the Choral Director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2017. A former Chorus Master at the Royal Danish Opera and the Glyndebourne Festival, Bines has conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra and achieved critical acclaim for productions including Billy Budd and The War Requiem at the Philharmonie Berlin. These international artists will perform alongside principal members of the Chamber Music Society of Colombo, led by Artistic Director Lakshman Joseph-de Saram, for an evening dedicated to artistic excellence and remembrance.
