In an awe-inspiring soiree of music, showmanship and event entertainment, the De Lanerolle Brothers commemorated their 15th anniversary at the place that started it all – The Waters Edge Hotel. A celebration of musical mastery reminiscing through their history, surrounded by the people who made this journey a possibility. The night was graced by celebrities, pioneers of various industries, enthusiastic fans, sponsors, media personnel and most importantly His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka with the first lady.
The opening act, in true De Lanerolle Brothers’ style saw the duo pay homage to 80’s music with “Simply The Best”, by Tina Turner, foreshadowing the night that was about to unfold. Clad in immaculate Sonali Dharmawardena designs, adorned with gold pocket jewellery to complement the outfits by Tiesh, a Gold Sponsor, and with Ramani Fernando Salons as the hair & makeup partner, The Brothers certainly looked the part.
The Master of Ceremonies, Kumar de Silva, known for his flair for entertaining people, indulged the audience in the tale of a French Naval officer by the name of Pierre de la Nérolle who approached Galle in the 1600’s, and whose present day descendants are The De Lanerolle Brothers.
Marking the 15th anniversary milestone, the revamped website of The De Lanerolle Brothers was launched in partnership with the team headed by Ranil de Silva, a vital figure in building the De Lanerolle brand since inception. When asked for a comment he was proud to tell us about the strong relationship he has with The De Lanerolle Brothers, "having entertained thousands of people over decades with a quality of performance that improves year on year, they remain humble and never forget their beginnings."
The perfectly curated music was complemented by an equally well curated 4 course sit down dinner accompanied with wine & spirits, that included a delectable yellow fin tuna & blue water prawn, wild mushroom infusion soup, a duet of surf & turf and chocolate delight with a side of salted caramel ice cream for dessert.

The musical phenomenon catered to crowds of all ages, but the fans were in for more. Discretely placed below the napkins on the table were vouchers to Siddhalepa for a 20-minute foot bliss for each member of the audience. In the spirit of going all out on the occasion of their 15th anniversary, each member of the audience also took home individual vouchers from varying vendors.
It is customary for the The De Lanerolle Brothers to invite artistes to perform at their ceremonies. On this occasion they were joined on stage by the future De Lanerolles fondly referred to as the “De Lanerolle Cousins”, who first performed with the De Lanerolle Brothers in 2019. Khalia De Lanerolle and Yohan De Lanerolle chose a crowd favourite for their entry, “When You Tell Me That You Love Me”.
Soundari David, a music connoisseur, shared her joy in being at the venue for two reasons. The amazing voices with a unique blend. Secondly, Rohan’s entertaining nature and the ability to keep the crowd going.
The Daily Mirror Life also spoke to the excited fans at the venue. Natalie says it was a walk down memory lane hearing them perform all of her dad’s favourite songs. Cathy, says the show from the start to the end was a hype of golden oldies.
Ishara told us that it was her first time and she thoroughly enjoyed herself and is looking forward to more.
Sue Rathnayake who’s been to one of the prior shows recollects seeing the “De Lanerolle Cousins” perform even when they were much younger. Shera Hassen remarks that the De Lanerolle Brothers are great entertainers and they know their audience very well and play accordingly. And Treherne remarks that it was her first time at a De Lanerolle concert and she was absolutely astounded by the performance.
