Prez rules out election in immediate future

  • Madduma Bandara said his party asked for an election for a fresh mandate to govern the country

President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in a meeting with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday, ruled out an election in the immediate future. 


Mr. Premadasa, accompanied by his party’s General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara, met with the president. 
The president requested them to team up with the government. However, they declined to take up ministerial posts.

 Besides , Mr. Bandara said his party asked for an election for a fresh mandate to govern the country. The president ruled out it in the immediate future .


Also, the Opposition Leader requested the president not to invoke the Prevention of Terrorism Act against anyone. The meeting lasted for about 45 minutes.
