Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter says Whole country facing a disastrous situation due to ignoring advise of Mahasangha

• As the Mahasangha we fulfilled our duty by providing guidance to avert it. However, it is sad to find that our advice has been ignored

Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera said the whole country was facing a disastrous situation today due to ignoring the timely advice and guidance of the Mahasangha.    

Addressing a gathering at a community in a temple in Madawala Ven.Mahanayake Thera said the Mahasangha was prepared to render their service to the people regardless of any insult or criticism of extremists.   

“ The predicament facing the country today and its causes are not a secret even to the children. As the Mahasangha we fulfilled our duty by providing guidance to avert it. However, it is sad to find that our advice has been ignored. Now, we do not have an alternative but to feel sorry for the disastrous situation. that could be worse in the days to come. We attempted to explain it to all those concerned but to no avail. The prevailing situation had caused much anxiety to scholars and knowledgeable individuals in society. Parents are sad about the future of their children, but there is nothing that could be done in their capacity. The only way out of this predicament is to pray to god” Ven. Mahanayake Thera said.
