Govt to maintain register on domestic aides : Minister

  • Parents of domestic worker who died at the residence of Bathiudeen to receive a house

State Minister of Women and Child Development, Pre-School and Primary Education Piyal Nishantha De Silva said a register of domestic aides in Sri Lanka would be maintained as a measure for the prevention of child abuses.  

He said this at a progress review meeting at the Nuwara-Eliya district secretariat. The Minister said he would fully cooperate with the institution of legal action against the wrongdoers held responsible for the death of a domestic worker at the residence of Rishad Bathiudeen.   The Minister promised to donate a house for the parents of this domestic worker who died at the residence of Bathiudeen.   


Steps for the protection of children in the district were discussed at length at the meeting.
