The deadline for filing income tax returns has been extended for another week starting from November 30, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe announced in Parliament yesterday.

“Those who were unable to submit the tax returns which were to be submitted by November 30th will be given the opportunity to submit within a week. The reports given during that period will be considered as given on November 30th with no surcharge,” he said.

In response to questions raised by the opposition the State Minister said that the Inland Revenue Department’s computer system (RAMIS) faced a technical problem on Wednesday (30) and it is currently being rectified. Income reports must be submitted to the Inland Revenue Department on or before November 30th, he said.

He however said that this was not an act of sabotage.
