Child slammed to the ground when buying a bun

A child was slammed on the ground when buying a bun from a trishaw selling bakery items in Dambulla yesterday, after an individual assumed that the child had stolen the money to make the purchase, the police said.  
The police arrested the individual for lifting the child and hitting him on the ground after the child approached the vehicle to purchase the bun.  


The suspect was taken into custody by Dambulla Police and produced before Dambulla Magistrate Chamila Kumari Ratnayake. He was remanded till January 09.  

The child who received injuries was rushed to the Dambulla hospital.  
Investigations revealed that the child had borrowed money from his grandfather and run to the road to buy the bun from the trishaw which was selling bakery products.   The suspect who was under the influence of liquor had threateningly asked the child how he got the money to buy the bun and slammed him on the ground thereafter.   The police arrested the individual for lifting the child and hitting him on the ground after the child approached the vehicle to purchase the bun.   The suspect was taken into custody by Dambulla Police and produced before Dambulla Magistrate Chamila Kumari Ratnayake.
