In another instance of child cruelty, a 14-year-old girl had been subjected to physical harassment for two years by her aunt in Alankudawa, Norochcholai Puttalam.

The girl has been severely harassed, even by chaining her inside a chicken coup.  The aunt, a 29-year-old woman, has been arrested and produced before court in this regard. Puttalam Acting Magistrate M.M. Iqbal ordered to remand her till August 2. The girl’s father, who was produced in court for not taking care of his daughter, was released on cash bail.  The aunt has not even fed the girl. As a result, she has been in the habit of begging food from nearby houses without the knowledge of her aunt.

The girl is suffering from burn injuries on her body. She has been admitted to the Puttalam hospital.
