Two sisters die in house fire at Kayts

The Kayts Police have launched an investigation after the bodies of two women believed to have died due to a fire at a house in St. Mary’s Avenue in Kayts off the Jaffna peninsula yesterday.  

The deceased were identified as two sisters of the same family, aged 72 and 74, residents of Kayts.  

The two deceased women were living alone in a house and one was a widow and the elder sister was spinster, She was living with her younger sister as her husband and son had died long ago.  

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed, police said.
