Teacher arrested for arson attack on Ranil’s private residence

• More than 25 suspects have been arrested in connection with setting fire to the President’s private residence  

The Criminal Investigation Department arrested a 36-year-old suspect in connection with the arson attack on  President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence on 09 July 2022.

The suspect, a resident of Kiranthidiya, was identified as a teacher.  

The suspect was scheduled to be produced before the Court.  

So far, more than 25 suspects have been arrested in connection with setting fire to the President’s private residence.
