Sri Lanka to file case against X-Press Pearl Shipping Company in Singapore today

• The development comes amidst , Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe alleging that he had been tipped off on several occasions

The Attorney General’s Department yesterday said it would file a case before a Singaporean Commercial Court against the Shipping company of MV X-Press Pearl which caused immense damages to Sri Lanka’s marine environment.  

The use of ‘Prednisolone’, an eye drop imported from India, was blamed for the complications.  

The use of this medicine was stopped with immediate effect, as per a directive issued by the Ministry of Health, and a special investigation was also initiated regarding the matter. .  
It has been planned to resume surgeries at the Eye Hospital as usual from today.
