Nine tremors in Sri Lanka since Jan 1

Tremor off Hambantota; also felt upto Moratuwa

 With yesterday’s minor tremor of 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale, there were a total number of nine tremors reported this year in Sri Lanka from January 1 until yesterday, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said.

 Geophysicist Nilmini Thaldena also said that yesterday’s tremor that was reported 25.8 kilometres away from Hambantota was the largest tremor, reported in Sri Lanka since January 1 this year.

 She also said that although the Bureau was conducting investigations to find out the reason for these tremors in Sri Lanka, they were still unable to find any reasons for it.
