A motorcyclist died on the spot in a head-on collision with NPP Puttalam  District Parliamentarian Mohamed Faisal’s motorcar at Haldanduwana in  Koswatta in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The parliamentarian had been on his way to attend parliamentary sessions.

Investigations revealed that the motorcar, which was travelling along  Horawanguwa Road to enter the Puttalam–Colombo Road, had collided with  the motorcycle. Police said the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel,  lost control of the vehicle, and veered onto the right side of the road. The  motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on  arrival.

The driver was arrested, and the motorcar was seized by  Koswatta Police pending further investigations. The MP was transported  in another vehicle to attend the parliamentary sessions.
