Minister assures all steps will be taken to ensure that there is no shortage of gas in the market

The government which had faulted Laugfs Gas for the issue in gas supply had summoned its officials for a discussion this week, it was reported yesterday.

Minister of Trade and Food Security Wasantha Samarasinghe told media that the government has summoned officials of Laugfs Gas for a meeting this week.

The issue is that Laugfs gas has not got into an agreement for an annual supply of gas with the suppliers unlike Litro Gas. This is why it has not been able to stabilize its supply. We have had discussions with Laugfs Gas officials and we have also called them for another discussion this week, the Minister said.

The Minister assured that all steps will be taken to ensure that there is no shortage of gas in the market.

Also, the Minister said Litro Gas has released 80,000 gas cylinders to the market yesterday.
