Couple sentenced to death for brutal murder of two-year-old adopted child

The Colombo High Court yesterday sentenced a couple to death after finding them guilty of brutally assaulting and killing a two-year-old child who had been taken for adoption. 

Following a lengthy trial, Colombo High Court Judge Sujeewa Nishanka delivered the verdict.   
The Attorney General had filed indictments against the couple for committing the murder of the child on or around May 1, 2018 at Maligawatta in Colombo.
