Businessman Dinesh Schaffter killed

A 52 year Director of Janashakthi Group, who had been found tied inside a car at the Borella General Cemetery with serious injuries earlier last evening has died while recieving treatment at the National hospital in Colombo.

Police said  Dinesh Schaffter had left his home at Flower Road in Colombo to attend a meeting last afternoon. However, since he had failed to respond to his phone since yesterday evening.  His wife had managed to locate him  via GPS inside the Cemetery. She had then informed a secretary of the company and sent him to the Borella cemetery.
Police said Mr.Schaffter’had been found in a car tied to the driver’s seat and a wire had been put around his neck.  


Police said that he had then been rushed to the National Hospital and been admitted to the ICU in a critical condition . Hospital sources said that the he had gone into cardiac arrest and their efforts to revive him had failed and he had passed way.


Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department.  


It was reported that the businessman had earlier reportedly lodged complaints with the CID against a person for not returning millions of rupees which had been obtained from the businessman.
