Six banks open in the North

 Six new banks were opened in the Kilinochchi, Paranthan , Mankulam and Jaffna areas in the North today including branches of the People’s Bank, Seylan Bank, and the Commercial Bank.

 Addressing the ceremony, Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal said that President Mahinda Rajapakse instructed him to provide banking facilities to the people in the North under the on going programme to restore normalcy in the area.  

He was hopeful that the development process in the area could be accelerated by providing loans and monetary facilities to the people through banks for development activities.
